Location : Hauts-de-Seine
Hauts-de-Seine is a department in the Île-de-France region. It is part of the ‘Métropole du Grand Paris’, and covers the suburbs to the west of Paris. It is a small and densely populated department noted for the architectural highlight of La Défense which reflects the shape of the Arc de Triomphe, whilst being a completely modern structure. Some of the notable locations in this department are the Chateau de Malmaison which was the home of Napoleon and Josephine for a time. And as it is also by the banks of the Seine, it has historically been a source of inspiration for many of the most famous impressionist painters. One is also able to visit the home of Chateaubriand where he wrote several of his best known works. The house has been lovingly restored and is open to the public.
