The Pyrenees Orientales department is in the Languedoc-Roussillon-Midi-Pyrénées region of France. The Pyrenees Orientales has so much to offer any visitor. The amazing beaches and quaint fishing towns along the coastline are just the beginning. The area boasts Ceret, the town where Picasso once lived which is now home to an impressive art museum. And this region is home to muscat wines. Being so close to Spain has certainly given this area a Catalan feel. Perpignan, the capital of the region, has an old town which dates back to the Middle Ages and has many historic links to Spain.
